Our Story
Studio 54 Hair Designs opened in 1996, run by Ronnie Thrasher and Tod McClelland.
The dream started in Detroit, MI where Ronnie and Tod met in 1990.
Tod graduated from beauty school in 1989. At Tod's urging, Ronnie got his cosmetology license as well, graduating in 1991. Together they worked at salons and taught at the Michigan College of Beauty.
In 1995, the duo made the move to our small town of Eldon, Missouri to pursue a dream.
They bought an old Casey's gas station and transformed it into the salon we know and love today with $100 in their bank account and a shared vehicle between them. Their first day in business was July 2, 1996. Since that day, they have become a part of a community that has been welcoming and full of love.
In the early 2000s they were able to partner with Aveda in an effort to be kinder to the earth, something that had been a goal for them from the get-go.
They expanded in 2008 to open a spa at the Camden on the Lake resort. There they have a full team to offer massage, manicuring, pedicuring, facials, and waxing.
Sadly, in January of 2023, Tod was diagnosed with ALS. He passed several months later in March surrounded by people who love him.
The outpouring of love and support from the community in the wake of Tod's death has been a beautiful thing. Ronnie continues to work hard to keep the dream alive.
We work hard to make you feel and look your best. We do it for you, and we do it for Tod.
